Text-to-Speech PDF Reader
Frequently Asked Questions
Why Won't The App Read My PDF?
The app is designed to read PDF files that contain text in a digitally readable format. However, if a PDF is a scanned image of text, it doesn't contain any actual text that the app can process. These scanned documents are images of pages, and without text recognition technology (OCR), the app cannot convert these images into spoken words. To improve accessibility, consider using a PDF that includes searchable text or explore OCR solutions to convert scanned images into readable text.
Why is the text-to-speech highlighting or speech sometimes incorrect or gibberish?
Some PDF files have "hidden" or faulty text data that doesn't match what you see on screen. Since our app reads the text layer directly (and doesn't do OCR), if the PDF's text layer is incorrect, the spoken words and highlighting won't match or may sound garbled. Unfortunately, this is a PDF formatting issue and not something the app can fix. Converting the PDF through OCR or ensuring the PDF's text layer is accurate can help resolve this.
